Next collective bargaining meeting (the 5th): on Friday July 17

The fifth collective bargaining meeting will take place on friday July 17th. from 3.45pm to 5 (or less) at the 

East Shore Unitarian Church

For those who are never attended, the church is a 5 minute drive from Advanta. 

Any Tier 1 employee is welcome to attend. 

Microsoft has included its paid leave requirement (at least 15 days of paid time off) in the new contract signed with Lionbridge. The question is when and how will Lionbridge implement it as far as our lab is concerned. 

Contract proposal from Lionbridge on February 27

At our fifth collective bargaining meeting, Lionbridge gave us its counter-proposal. See for yourself what they offer. If you are especially concerned with wages and benefits, look at the pages 8 and 9: there is nothing left of what we proposed and they offer NOTHING: not one paid holiday, not one paid sick leave, not one paid parental leave, not any paid time off whatsoever and of course no raise and no cost of living adjustment clause. They struck out the parts of our proposal they refused and the underlined text is what they added to our initial proposal. We found Lionbridge's proposal completely inacceptable. About the 4th collective bargaining meeting

Dear All,

First three thanks:

1. Thanks to Liliya and her carpooler who waited more than one hour so she could attend part of the meeting. Her presence and support was much appreciated.

2. Thanks to the people and organizations that helped us retain Dmitri as legal counsel.

3. Thanks to Dmitri who cleared the field of most of the hurdles and moved the negotiation forward.

Lionbridge said they would come up with a proposal on the next meeting that will be on Friday February 27 at 3.30.

Of course there is no saying what this proposal will be as they remained very critical of our $25 for everybody goal but seemed more open to some benefits. We'll see and you'll see for yourself if you can come on the 27th. I really felt that Dmitri's presence and competence made a big difference.

We still have the negotiation ahead of us, without taking anything for granted.

Think about attending the meeting on February 27th.

The fourth collective bargaining meeting will take place on Tuesday February 10th.

The next collective bargaining meeting (the 4th) will take place on Tuesday February 10, from 3.45 to 5pm at the East Shore Unitarian Church (10 minutes drive from the office).

If you plan to attend let us know asap as if there are more than the 3 or 4 of us who usually come we could need a bigger room.

Our attorney, Dmitri Iglitzin will attend so you'll also have a chance to meet him.

About the third collective bargaining meeting

Our third collective bargaining took place on Wednesday January 7 with Helena, Colin, Zac and Philippe representing the union. Lionbridge's attorney Tim O'Connell, kept asking us questions to clarify what was in our draft contract: a delaying strategy we try to counteract as best as we can but he has been doing it for 30 years while we have a learning curve. We did our 'best effort'. About the second collective bargaining meeting

During our second collective bargaining meeting we basically recorded all the questions Lionbridge had about the draft contract we had submitted. If you want a copy of this initial draft, just email us. A date for the next meeting has not been scheduled yet. It should be sometime in early January.
We'll keep you posted. While deeply frustrated by the lack of paid holidays we wish you all the best during this holiday period and for the new year.

Second collective bargaining meeting: Thursday December 18

The second collective bargaining meeting will take place on Thursday December 18 in Bellevue.

First collective bargaining meeting

We had our first collective bargaining meeting with Lionbridge this afternoon: four representatives of Temporary Workers of America and four Lionbridge's representatives. We expressed our demands for compensation increases and benefits.
Lionbridge asked what numbers we had in mind and we said we had to ask you what your precise demands were.
Not everybody is in the exact same situation so we would like to hear from each of you individually about your quantified wishes for salary raises, and various benefits: how many paid leave days, how many paid legal holidays, how many paid sick days, how many paid parental leave days or if they were all bundled together (except for the legal holidays) how many paid time off days.
